Overview

Sealtrace is a desktop screen recording application for traders. Your recordings, audio, network logs, and export packages never leave your computer. We do not have access to your trading screen, your positions, or your personal files. This policy explains the limited data we do collect and why.

What stays on your machine

The following data is created and stored entirely on your computer. Sealtrace never uploads, transmits, or has access to any of it:

  • Screen recordings and buffered footage
  • Microphone audio captures
  • Network health and ping logs
  • System and broker connection data
  • Exported export packages (.zip files)
  • Session replay recordings, bookmarks, and notes
  • PDF incident reports

What we collect

Licensing & payment

Your email address and payment information are collected and processed by LemonSqueezy, our payment and licensing provider. We receive your email address and license status from LemonSqueezy to activate and validate your subscription. We do not store or process your payment card details directly.

Crash reports

We use Sentry to collect crash reports and error logs from the desktop application. This includes stack traces, device information, and operating system details. No screen content, recordings, audio, or personal trading data is included in crash reports.

Usage analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data from the desktop application. This helps us understand which features are used and how to improve the product. Analytics are enabled by default and can be disabled at any time in the application settings. No screen content, recordings, audio, or trading data is ever included in analytics events.

Timestamping

When you export a recording, a cryptographic hash (a unique fingerprint) of your recording is sent to a third-party timestamp authority (DigiCert or FreeTSA) to obtain a trusted timestamp. Only the hash is transmitted — your actual recordings, audio, and files are never sent. The hash cannot be used to reconstruct any of your content.

Auto-update

The application periodically checks for software updates. This transmits your current application version and operating system information. No personal data or recording content is included in update checks.

Website

Analytics

The sealtrace.io website uses Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track visitors across websites. All data is aggregated and anonymous.

Affiliate cookies

We use Rewardful for our affiliate program. If you arrive at sealtrace.io through an affiliate link, a cookie is set to attribute the referral. This cookie is used solely for affiliate tracking and does not collect personal information beyond the referral source.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with the service providers listed above (LemonSqueezy, Sentry, PostHog, DigiCert/FreeTSA, Umami, Rewardful) strictly for the purposes described in this policy.

Data retention

Your email address and license information are retained for the duration of your subscription and for a reasonable period afterward for billing and legal compliance. Crash reports and analytics data are retained according to the data retention policies of Sentry and PostHog respectively. All recordings and local data are under your control and can be deleted at any time from your computer.

Your rights

You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at privacy@sealtrace.io. You can disable usage analytics at any time in the application settings. You can delete all local recordings and data from your computer at any time without contacting us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the application or by email.
